Certification procedure

To become a certified pharmacist, the candidate must first receive a Pharmacist Training Notebook, then participate in training courses and receive training seals. Applications to the JPEC are submitted as follows:

The notebook can be obtained for a small fee from the JPEC,Prefectural Pharmacist Training Councils,training organization,etc.

Candidates participate in training cources and receive training seals upon completion of individual cources.

Initial training: At least 40 units within 4 years
Renewal training: At least 30 units every 3 years and at least 5 units every year

The Certified Pharmacists Application Form is submitted to the JPEC via the prefectural pharmacist training council, which serve as associated organizations.

In addition to the Education System-qualified pharmacists system,a system of certification for the Kampo and Natural Medicines Cource was established in 2001.
